Owings Mills, MD – December 27, 2024 – The first-ever Nights of Light at Celebration was a resounding success, bringing together the local community the evening of December 26 to celebrate the Festival of Lights. Hosted at Metro Centre, by David S. Brown Enterprises, the event marked the start of what promises to be an annual tradition for the Baltimore County community.

The evening featured a joyful Menorah Lighting Ceremony, led by "Rabbi Nochum Katsenelenbogen of Chabad of Owings Mills, Maryland, alongside traditional blessings, Hanukkah songs, and heartfelt reflections on the holiday’s significance. The Menorah at Metro Centre is a breathtaking masterpiece, standing among the largest in the world at an impressive 30 feet tall.

During the ceremony, Rabbi Katsenelenbogen stated, “Each of us is a beacon of light. Each one of us is like a candle, and we light up numerous other candles, and we have a responsibility to do that, to go out into the world, to touch another person's soul, to inspire them.”

In addition to the evening’s festivities, attendees were encouraged to participate in nightly candle lighting at 5:00 PM through January 1, 2025, extending the warmth and unity of the celebration throughout the week.

The Community Menorah Lighting Celebration will return in 2025 at Metro Centre as part of an ongoing effort to foster community connection and celebrate shared traditions. Mark your calendars and join us next year to keep the flame of this growing tradition alive!
